Some Information about Poultry Types

Poultry is a term that includes all domesticated birds which render economic services to man. It can be our source of food, clothing and ornaments, by products like manure and also for the sports we know the sabong.
Domesticated fowl has been domesticated since about 2000 BC.

UTILITY CLASSIFICATION

1. Egg type (Leghorn, Minorcas, Anconas, Mikawa)

  • small in size
  • lay large, white shelled eggs
  • active and nervous in temperament
  • non sitters
2. Meat type (Brahmas, Cochin, Langshans, Cornish, White rocks)
  • large, slow in movement
  • poor egg layer
  • lay browned shelled eggs
3. General purpose type (New Hampshire, , Plymouth rock, Lancaster, Nagoya, Cantonese)
  • medium sized good layers
  • fast growers
4. Fancy type (Frizzle, Bantams, Long tailed)
  • beauty of plumage, rare unusual appearance
  • raised as ornamentals or pets
5. Fighting class (Ruble, Hulsay, Claret, Oasis)
